Gallery of darkfield macrophotographies

A completare i miei post sulla macrofotografia in campo oscuro e sul mio illuminatore autocostruito a luce diffusa, raccolgo in questa pagina, e aggiornerò in futuro, una selezione di immagini con sfondo fuori fuoco di un colore nero compatto, e di qualità accettabile.
Oltre all'economicità, gli obiettivi non dichiarati sono:

  • ottenere un gradevole effetto visuale per l'elevato contrasto tra soggetto e sfondo,
  • evitare quelle disuniformità dello sfondo chiaro (in particolare le ombre), che in passato mi hanno costretto a laboriosissimi lavori manuali di ritaglio digitale, per i quali gli strumenti automatici (come le funzionalità "bacchetta magica" di Photoshop) offrono risultati subottimali.
Alcune delle foto, e in particolare quelle realizzate con la eccellente camera Invenio 8DII, hanno tutti i diritti di riproduzione riservati a DeltaPix.
Rispetto a quanto già illustrato nella pagina sulla macrofotografia in campo oscuro, ho reso più compatta la "camera scura" e - per ottenere più agevolmente stack di immagini su più assi - mi sono procurato ed ho modificato opportunamente due slitte millimetriche incrociate, su cui può essere montata la camera scura. A sua volta, ciò ha reso necessario acquistare un'estensione alla colonna di messa a fuoco, e disaccoppiare l'illuminatore dalla "camera scura", che ora è mobile. Il set di ripresa che è emerso è illustrato nell'immagine qui sotto.

To complete my posts about darkfield macrophotography and about my self-built diffused light illuminator, I collect in this page, and will update in the future, a selection of pictures with uniform out-of-focus black background, of acceptable quality.
In addition to cheapness, undeclared objectives include:

  • obtaining a pleasant visual impression, thanks to the high contrast between subject and background,
  • avoiding those unevenness in the clear backgrounds (shadows in particular), that in the past have necessitated a painstaking manual work for digital background clipping, for which automatic tools (such as the "magic wand" by Photoshop) provide suboptimal results.
Some of the pictures, in particular those taken with the excellent Invenio 8DII camera, have all reproduction rights reserved to DeltaPix.
As compared to what I already have illustrated in the page about darkfield macrophotography, I made a more compact "black room" and - to make more easily focus stacks on two or three axes - I purchased and suitably modified two millimetric crossed slides, on which the dark room can be mounted. This, in turn, required purchasing an extension of the focusing pole, and decoupling the illuminator from the "black room", that now can be moved. The resulting photographic set is illustrated in the picture here under.




A partire da Giugno 2019, l'utilizzo del mio nuovo light box fatto con tavolette LED A5 per tracciamento ha portato un miglioramento radicale dell'illuminazione anche nella fotografia in campo scuro.

Starting June 2019, the use of my new light box made with A5 LED tracing boards brought a radical improvement of the lighting also in dark field macrophotography.

Dimensioni soggetto: circa 5mm - questo è un tentativo utile, con esiti scadenti,
per verificare come si comporta la camera se connessa direttamente all'obiettivo per microscopio.
Il risultato è stato altamente negativo perché non era stata rispettata la distanza di 170mm
tra obiettivo e sensore fotocamera.
Per una corretta applicazione di obiettivi da microscopio a foto e videocamere, vedere "Approccio a basso costo per la fotografia con obiettivi da microscopio".
Subject size: around 5mm - this was an useful attempt, with questionable results,
to verify the behavior of the camera when directly connected to a microscope objective.
The result was highly negative mostly because the distance of 170mm between
objective and camera sensor wasn't respected.
